Counselling Goals

  

 The goal is to bring about a greater understanding of ourselves, address doubting, hurtful or anxious thoughts. It can be difficult to see alternatives and other perspectives, and other kinder ways to see ourselves. It can feel like a heavy weight and takes up way too much of our time.  


Counselling can be liberating. There are so many times that we get stuck in a way of thinking and feeling about our lives. This has real impact. Just bringing about small positive change in one part of our life has a ripple effect on other parts of our life. 


We may notice:

  • Increased motivation, such as finally getting assignments done.
  • Absence of limiting thoughts that hold us back and keep us down.
  • Knowing ourselves better. 
  • Communicating better and creating/strengthening all of our relationships.


There is just so much more that can be done. Whenever you feel stuck it is always good to know that you can reach out to someone who will help guide you to meet those goals. We all deserve to feel better about ourselves and our lives.  

Possible Concerns

  

There are so many different concerns counselling can address, such as some of the following:

  • Loss of a loved one 
  • Loss of a pregnancy 
  • Difficult birth 
  • Living with a loved one who has mental health problems 
  • Carrying the scars of a difficult childhood 
  • Going through a traumatic event
  • Surgeries

  • Relationship break-ups 
  • Abuse
  • Toxic work environments
  • Toxic home environments
  • Depression and/or anxiety 
  • Communication breakdowns in relationships of any kind
  • Dealing with the impact of racism, sexism, or homophobia 
  • Bullying
